William Anderson - Principal

Mr. William (Bill) Anderson's 28 year career as a teacher and an administrator has been filled with both accolades and criticisms. Mr. Anderson has been described by colleagues as animated, energetic, and extremely smart. Mr. Anderson with his in-depth knowledge of instructional strategies, no nonsense administrative style and specialized background in the arts has demonstrated a unique ability to transform and elevate underperforming schools into "best in class" learning environments. His driven and focused approach has resulted in both success and criticism. His very direct manner of communication and relenting quest for accountability has characterized him as very demanding, imposing and exacting. Mr. Anderson's salty vernacular and discerning way has been questioned and misunderstood at times however his results have historically been exemplary. Mr. Anderson references portray him as an outstanding educator, compassionate with students, responsive to parents and collaborative with teachers. Volunteers of America is confident that Mr. Anderson will transform Ballington Academy into a state of the art learning environment dedicated to the arts and sciences. It is our sincere belief that Mr. Anderson as principal and instructional leader will take Ballington Academy and our student body to the next level in performance and academic achievement.
